According to a recent study, the total amount of digital information we store was equal to 14,050,000 times bigger than the Library of Congress, which houses 134,517,714 items. This averages 45 gigabytes per person. For the first time, the amount of data produced exceeded the amount of space available for storage. The largest space-consuming culprits include surveillance, social networks (Facebook) and weather mapping. According to recent statistics, one exabyte will be generated every four days in the next decade.
